Maybe you should judge a book by its cover

Before

After

So I went to the hairdresser the other day. I wanted to change up my hair, get more blond highlights, yada yada yada. So I went to this place that came highly recommended by my sister and just made the appointment with anyone that was available. That was my first mistake, according to my sister because I was suppose to go to the one that she went to (who was excellent). To defend myself I said "Well Shauna it seems like a really nice place (they sure charge enough), I'm sure everyone will be good there."

I show up on Saturday in a classic Shelby outfit, basically a 23-year-old posing as a 45 year mother: dark denim jeans, shade shirt, a navy cardigan, metallic gold flats (woah get crazy) and what else a string of pearls. I get there 5 minutes early and wait for my stylist. This woman comes over to me and I thought to myself "Oh dear my sister was right." She had short, spiky platinum blond hair, she was covered with tattoos (including one right in the middle of her chest of a martini) with piercings and the like. Then I quickly told myself "Don't judge, she might not look too professional, but she probably is really good at hair."

Well to make a long story short, she gave me the most amazing color I have ever had in my entire life....and then she cut it. I kept telling her, "My hair is curly, my hair is curly." I guess she didn't really take that into mind. Well when she was done blow drying I looked in the mirror and not only did I dress like a 45 year old, I looked like one. I was one phrase away from "Okay kids grab your uniforms and hop into the minivan."

Luckily I have an angel for a sister who has great skills in the hair department, she made it ten times better and I feel somewhat decent again. Well you only live once right?

I love my stylist. It took me years to find her and she gave me a long cut that works. I've never had long hair look good on me before. Now Phil goes to her too, and we took Anita when she was in town. Having the right stylist makes all the difference. I've had some very bad cuts in my day.
